David Shepherd


Mr. Shepherd has the primary responsibility for the Institutional Advisory Practice. He oversees the Firm’s investment research and fiduciary consulting resources, and heads the Firm’s proprietary systems development strategy alongside SKK’s in-house technology team. Mr. Shepherd co-chairs the Firm’s Private Equity Committee and the Wealth Management Investment Committee and works closely with the Research Committee. Mr. Shepherd has more than 26 years of experience in investment research, product development and consulting to the pension, endowment, foundation and family office marketplace. He advises the Investment Committees of numerous corporations on investment policy design, monitoring regimens and fiduciary compliance. Mr. Shepherd is on the board of Etiometry and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He holds a degree in Economics and Finance from Boston University.

David Kaplan


Mr. Kaplan is actively involved in the development of the Firm’s intellectual property, consulting tools and technological capabilities. He is a member of the Private Equity Committee and also co-chairs the Firm’s Wealth Management Investment Committee. Originally responsible for developing the Firm’s Private Wealth Management practice, Mr. Kaplan later transitioned to the COO role to ensure the Firm had a strong operating structure during years of steep growth. In this capacity, he oversaw all operating areas of the Firm. Mr. Kaplan has more than 26 years of experience in investment management, product development, marketing and education in the financial services industry. He provides consultation to private investors, trusts and foundations with deep expertise in the investment portfolio design and risk management areas. Mr. Kaplan serves on the Board of Overseers for the Boys and Girls Club of Boston, and the Endowment Committee for Temple Beth Elohim. Mr. Kaplan holds a degree in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Timothy Krochuk, CFA®


Mr. Krochuk is a portfolio manager for the alternative investment funds. He has 28 years of experience in investment research and management. He was previously the youngest diversified portfolio manager in the history of Fidelity Investments (as of 2001). During his tenure, he used advanced quantitative techniques to study a variety of industries. He was responsible for the development, programming and implementation of investment models used in managing over $20 billion in public mutual funds—some of the first to use artificial intelligence in the investment process. He is an experienced programmer and systems administrator, having started his first technology company at the age of 13. Mr. Krochuk holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Mr. Krochuk co-chairs the Firm’s Private Equity Committee and serves on the board of, or in an advisory capacity to, a number of private and public companies in the United States and Canada. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). Mr. Krochuk holds an AB in Economics from Harvard College.

Stephen Brackett

Managing Member, President

Mr. Brackett has 33 years of experience in the financial services industry primarily focused on private equity and venture capital investing, fund development, investment banking, and structured finance. As President, Steve is directly involved in the management and development of the alternative investment initiatives at the company, which includes product development, transaction origination, capital formation, portfolio construction, due diligence across investment and operational functions, strategic initiative development and management, and divisional governance. Steve is a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to SKK, Steve worked to launch and develop divisions of a number of private equity, venture and hedge fund platforms in partnership with Global financial institutions such as ING Bank and Manulife Financial Corporation. He ran the Investment Banking and Corporate Advisory Practice for Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Capital Corporation (BTMCC) and has also held senior positions in the real estate, investment banking and trading sectors. He received a B.A. in Political Science from Bates College.
